A fiber optic connector allows you to join multiple optical fibers together so that it’s easier to connect and disconnect the wires. The device is placed at the end of the cables, essentially combining and aligning the cores of the fibers so more light can pass through.

Using fiber optic cable connectors eliminates the need for splicing wires, which is a time-consuming and tedious process, especially if you frequently need to connect and/or disconnect the cables. Single-mode cables are smaller than their multi-mode counterparts (about 10 microns in diameter) and are capable of transmitting data up to 40 miles with a bandwidth of 1Gb’s.

One downside is that the solid-state laser diodes typically used by single-mode cables make them two to three times more expensive than multi-mode cables.

A good quality single-mode fiber cable connector will be inexpensive, easy to install, easy to use and reliable, and will have low insertion loss, low return loss, and low environmental sensitivity. Overall, the connector will make it easier to connect and disconnect the cables in your network without splicing or other difficult measures.

For California Residents Only: California Proposition 65 Warning
WARNING: Some products may contain chemicals that are known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm.

Proposition 65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, is a law that requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. The warnings are intended to help California consumers make informed decisions about their exposure to these chemicals from the products they use. The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) administers the Proposition 65 program and publishes the listed chemicals, which includes more than 850 chemicals. In August 2016, OEHHA adopted new regulations, effective on August 30, 2018, which change the information required in Proposition 65 warnings.
