Single-Mode

Single-Mode Fiber Patch Cables — OS2 • LC / SC / ST • Simplex / Duplex

These OS2 single-mode fiber patch cords are built for clean, reliable links in data centers, telecom rooms, MDF/IDF spaces, and long-reach LAN/SAN interconnects. Choose your connector style (LC/SC/ST), polarity (Simplex/Duplex), and jacket diameter (2mm/3mm) to match your optics, patch panels, and routing needs.

  • Built for distance: OS2 single-mode supports long-reach links and higher-speed optics.
  • Connector options: LC is most common on modern transceivers; SC/ST are often used on panels and legacy gear.
  • Simplex vs Duplex: Simplex = 1 strand; Duplex = 2 strands (Tx/Rx pair) for most standard links.
Quick selection tips
  • Most common today: OS2 LC-LC duplex for modern optics and patch panels.
  • Panel compatibility: Match SC or ST ends to your existing panel hardware.
  • Simplex note: Use Simplex only when your equipment or application specifically calls for a single strand.
  • See the “Abbreviations” chart at the bottom of the page for definitions and decoding.

Abbreviation Meaning
SM / SMF Single-Mode (Single-Mode Fiber) — optimized for long-distance, low-loss links.
OS2 Optical Single-mode grade 2 — standard single-mode fiber for long-reach networks (commonly yellow jacket).
LC Lucent Connector — compact, modern standard used on most SFP/SFP+/QSFP optics.
SC Subscriber/Standard Connector — larger push-pull connector, common on patch panels and legacy equipment.
ST Straight Tip — bayonet twist-lock connector, frequently found in older installations.
Simplex Single-strand cable (1 fiber). Used for single-fiber applications or specialty optics/media converters.
Duplex Two-strand paired cable (2 fibers) for Tx/Rx on most standard single-mode links.
2mm / 3mm Approximate jacket diameter. 2mm is slimmer/lighter for tight routing; 3mm is more robust for general patching.
Yellow jacket Common color code for OS2 single-mode fiber patch cables.
